Graham Hadley, Independent – Wimbledon – General Election 2019

“Since 1988, my wife and I have lived in Wimbledon, raised three sons, paid our taxes and mortgage and quietly watched the gradual downward slide of Westminster politics to a new all-time low level.  I did not expect our MP to set the Thames on fire, but I do expect him/her to act in the interests of constituents and not play silly party political games to the detriment of everything else.  This has to stop.  Now is the time for good citizens to stand up and be counted and break the seeming impotence and incompetence of Westminster.  Independent candidates do not have to play political games, they just have to get on and represent their voters, which was always the basic idea in the first place.  Living locally and facing local issues, I will do my best to help and represent all voters.  You won’t do badly if you vote for Hadley!”

NHS

The NHS is a national asset and should be protected at all times. Qualified Medics are best suited to operate the system, backed up by commercial and professional staff.  Politicians should be kept well away.  Throwing exaggerated sums of money at the NHS is not necessarily the best way forward.

Police

The Police are a vital part of the community and deserve full support at all times.  When under pressure, they should be backed up by armed forces personnel in major trouble areas.

Plastic

Plastic pollution is a contemporary menace. Schools should collect plastic bottle tops for re-cycling with profits going back into the community.

Excess Traffic

There are too many cars on our roads, many are illegal.  Huge container lorries should be taken off our motorways and put on rail wagons overnight, reducing noise, pollution and road damage.

Social Care

Social care for old and young is vital.  At 73, Graham has a great vested interest in getting a good system.

US Tariffs

Current tariffs on whisky and cashmere are outrageous and unfair and must be lifted.

M.P’s Pay

M.P’s should only draw half-salary until the EU Withdrawal Bill is passed and the contaminated blood victims receive an interim compensation payment.

Graham also has strong views on banking, inheritance tax, internet companies and High Street renewal.
