The Merton Citizens, founded April 2017, is a community-led, charitable initiative funded entirely through donations made from 16 local faith, schools, community or statutory organisations. They are holding a Merton Citizens Election Assembly on Thursday 21st April from 7pm until 9pm.
The event was held at Mitcham Parish Church, St Peter & Paul Church Road, Mitcham CR4 3BP.
It only invited THREE of the SIX parties standing, deciding to disregard the views of almost certain future Councillors.
It turned out that the Leader of Merton Labour, Cllr Mark Allison would not agree to Merton Citizens Housings “asks”, although agreed to by both the Liberal Democrats and Local Conservatives. They would probably require the support of those parties they didn’t invite to make changes on Merton Council.
